Arduino-Based Myoelectric Control: Towards Longitudinal Study of Prosthesis Use

چکیده
Understanding how upper-limb prostheses are used in daily life helps to improve the design and robustness of prosthesis control algorithms prosthetic components. However, only a very small fraction published research includes use community settings. The cost, limited battery life, poor generalisation may be main reasons limiting implementation home-based applications. In this work, we introduce cost-effective Arduino-based myoelectric system with wearable electromyogram (EMG) sensors. considerations focused on home studies, so robustness, user-friendly adjustments, user supports were concerns. Three algorithms, namely, direct control, abstract linear discriminant analysis (LDA) classification, implemented system. paper, will share our principles report continuous operation laboratory. addition, show first real-time decoder for an able-bodied participant.

Towards Robustness in Pattern Recognition Based Myoelectric Prosthesis Control
Commercial myoelectric prosthetic systems are based on relatively simple signal acquisition and processing. Academic research has indeed been developing powerful algorithms with promising results (e.g., pattern recognition methods and linear or non-linear transformations [1-4]), but there are still no commercial systems available using these approaches because they are not robust enough for cli...
متن کاملGame-Based Rehabilitation for Myoelectric Prosthesis Control
BACKGROUND A high number of upper extremity myoelectric prosthesis users abandon their devices due to difficulties in prosthesis control and lack of motivation to train in absence of a physiotherapist. Virtual training systems, in the form of video games, provide patients with an entertaining and intuitive method for improved muscle coordination and improved overall control. Complementary to es...
متن کاملRemoval of ECG Artifacts from Myoelectric Prosthesis Control Signals
Abstract We investigated removal of electrocardiogram (ECG) artifacts from the myoelectric prosthesis control signals, taken from the reinnervated pectoralis muscles of a patient with bilateral amputations at shoulder disarticulation level. The performance of various ECG artifact removal methods including high pass filtering, spike clipping, template subtracting, wavelet thresholding and adapti...
متن کاملOperator performance in myoelectric control of a multifunction prosthesis stimulator.
In this paper, a microcomputer-based system is described which facilitates the evaluation of different myoelectric control strategies. The system is based on an IBM-PC/AT microcomputer which generates and develops tracking targets, processes and displays the operator's response, and computes tracking performance. The dynamics of the prosthetic elbow, hand, and forearm are simulated in software ...
متن کاملLong-term results of early myoelectric prosthesis fittings: A prospective case-control study.
BACKGROUND Different recommendations exist regarding what age is best for first-time fitting of myoelectric hand prostheses in children. OBJECTIVES To compare prosthetic skill, prosthetic use and risk for rejection over time between children fitted with myoelectric hand prostheses before or after 2½ years of age. STUDY DESIGN Prospective case-control design. METHODS The cases were nine ch...
